Nnovember 25, 2019: Freckles by Gene Stratton Porter and Theory of Bastards by Audrey Schulman.
I read Freckles as a youngster and loved it. Now I can't believe what a simpleton I must have been. I suppose if I lived another 50 years I might feel the same way about some of the books I'm reading and loving now. I hope that would mean that I had continued to grow through reading evermore sophisticated material of the kind this reading group draws to my attention. That would probably include the first half of Theory of Bastards; wish I had stopped there.
